Honda CR-V
Directed by Antonio Saraceno, this TVC features the new Honda CRV speeding through a tunnel and then through four seasons. The snow scenes utilized large amounts of fake snow shot on location in Jakarta and went through heavy post production work. Cutting Edge added falling snow and digital matte paintings of the snow scene and enhanced the mood of the Autumn and Spring scenes by combining footage shot on location and in the Jakarta studio with animated butterflies, leaves and opening cherry blossoms.
Yamaha
Directed by Cutting Edge's animation director, Ian Anderson, this 2D animated TVC was created for Yamaha Taiwan through Dentsu. Cutting Edge modelled and previsualized the products in Maya to provide a reference to the 2D team. Five 2D animators, one Maya artist and a scan/paint artist worked on the commercial by tracing the drawings with marker pens, having a separate texture layer, then scanning and painting in Toonz. The final product was composited in Shake, with SNR.
Toshiba
The Toshiba commercial was directed by Mark Toia from Zoom Film & Television. Toia filmed the live action sequences and background plates to enable the Cutting EdgeVFX team to do compositing. Cutting Edge's head of compositing Jeff Gaunt integrated the greenery into the lounge room.
