Qld: Preference deal-making to start in earnest

BRISBANE, Jan 20 AAP - Preference deal-making for the Queensland election will start
in ernest today after nominations close.

The Queensland Greens have said no discussions on preferences will be made until branches
have a list of all candidates for the February 7 state election.

Nominations close at noon today.

Premier Peter Beattie on Sunday made a pitch for the green vote, announcing a $150
million program to stop broadscale land clearing.
