The city public school board voted Tuesday to hire a firm to design plans for the removal of asbestos from Cohoes High School.
Failsafe Risk Management Alternatives Inc. of Troy, which bid $18,950, wasthe lowest of six firms that met the requirements of the request for proposals, said Superintendent Gilbert DeCicco.
When the high school on Elm Street was built in 1969, asbestos insulation was used above the ceiling tile throughout the school, DeCicco said.
