Here are the latest developments in AIDS.

There were 720 new cases of AIDS reported to the nationalCenters for Disease Control for the week ending March 28.

About 1 million Americans are infected with the AIDS virus, thecenters reported. Since 1981, more than 213,641 cases of acquiredimmune deficiency syndrome and 138,395 deaths have been reported tothe Atlanta-based centers. More than 484,148 cases of AIDS in 164countries have been reported to the World Health Organization. Research

The AIDS virus is 90 percent more likely to be transmitted froma man to a woman than vice versa, results of a nine-nation Europeanstudy indicated.
