DANA CORPORATION ANNOUNCES GLOBAL PROGRAM TO BECOME ISO 14001 COMPLIANT.

Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) announced today an aggressive program for all of its manufacturing plants worldwide to be certified ISO 4001 by the end of 2002.

Dana has plants in 33 countries and supplies every major automotive and truck manufacturer in the world. More than 51 Dana plants are already ISO 14001 certified and another 119 have already begun the process. Plants that have not yet started the process will soon embark on an accelerated program to achieve accreditation within the deadline set by Dana.

ISO 14001, which is considered the benchmark of environmental excellence globally, requires a serious commitment to the environment, said Joe Magliochetti Dana's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We believe this commitment is completely in line with the Dana Style and with Dana policy to protect the environment and to be a good citizen globally."

In the past, most environmental programs focused solely on legal compliance. The ISO environmental management system requires companies to go beyond compliance by taking into consideration energy consumption, product lifecycle, waste minimisation and other natural resource benefits. Product design and research is also analysed to reduce the use of hazardous chemicals as well as hazardous waste. After certification, the program is reviewed each year in order to continually improve the system.
